Reporting Guidelines

How to report emergencies, missing-person information, safety concerns, and platform violations.

Effective: July 18, 2026
Emergency first: If a child or another person is in immediate danger, call 911 or the appropriate local emergency service immediately. Unity Links does not dispatch emergency responders and is not a substitute for filing a report with law enforcement.

1. Purpose

These Reporting Guidelines explain how to submit missing-person information, report unsafe activity or policy violations, and contact Unity Links. They are designed to protect children, families, users, and the integrity of public alerts.

2. Missing or Endangered Person Emergencies

  1. Call 911 or the appropriate local law-enforcement agency first when there is an emergency, an abduction, an immediate threat, or a person is currently endangered.
  2. Follow the instructions of the investigating agency. Do not delay an official report while waiting for Unity Links.
  3. Use Unity Links only as an additional awareness and community-support tool.

Submitting information to Unity Links does not create an official police report and does not guarantee publication, investigation, notification, or response.

3. Submitting a Missing-Person Report to Unity Links

Use the official “Report a Missing Person” form on the Unity Links website. Provide accurate, current, and complete information, including when available:

  • Your name, email address, phone number, and relationship to the missing person or case.
  • The missing person’s full name, age, recent photo, physical description, and distinguishing features.
  • The date, time, and location where the person was last seen.
  • Clothing, vehicle, travel, medical, disability, or safety information that is relevant and authorized for public sharing.
  • The investigating agency, case number, official contact number, and a link to an official alert when available.
  • How you received or confirmed the information.

Do not submit confidential records, identification numbers, private addresses, passwords, or information that law enforcement has instructed you not to publish.

4. Who May Submit a Case

A report should be submitted only by a person who has a legitimate basis to do so, such as:

  • A parent, legal guardian, immediate family member, or authorized representative.
  • A law-enforcement agency, government agency, licensed service provider, or authorized nonprofit partner.
  • A person sharing an existing official alert or case with accurate source information.

You must have the legal right or appropriate authorization to submit photos, documents, and personal information. Do not use Unity Links to pursue someone who is lawfully avoiding contact, to interfere in a custody dispute, or to harass another person.

5. Case Review and Publication

Unity Links may review, verify, edit for clarity, hold, reject, publish, update, or remove a submission. Review may include contacting the submitter, checking official sources, requesting additional documentation, or consulting the investigating agency.

Unity Links may decline publication when information is incomplete, unverified, unsafe to publish, legally restricted, inconsistent with official information, or outside the platform’s mission.

Publication timing is not guaranteed. A submitted case should never be treated as approved or public until it appears on Unity Links.

6. Reporting a Sighting or Tip

  • Contact the law-enforcement agency listed on the official case alert.
  • Call 911 when the person is currently visible and there is an immediate safety concern.
  • Do not approach, follow, photograph at close range, detain, or confront any person.
  • Do not publish a precise real-time sighting, private address, or accusation in a public comment.
  • Record only what you safely and lawfully observed, such as time, location, direction of travel, vehicle details, and clothing.

After contacting the appropriate agency, you may send the same information to Unity Links if it is safe and lawful to do so.

7. Reporting Community Content or User Conduct

Use the report or flag option where available, or email contact@unitylinks.org, to report:

  • Child exploitation, grooming, trafficking, abuse, endangerment, or sexual content involving minors.
  • Threats, harassment, stalking, hate speech, scams, impersonation, or requests for money.
  • False missing-person alerts, hoaxes, misinformation, or unverified public accusations.
  • Doxxing, confidential records, private addresses, or unnecessary personal information.
  • Graphic or violent content, spam, unauthorized fundraising, or suspicious links.
  • Attempts to arrange unsafe private meetings or move a vulnerable person off-platform.

8. Information to Include in a Platform Report

Provide enough information for a responsible review:

  • The username, profile, post, comment, message, alert, or page involved.
  • A direct link or screenshot, when lawful and appropriate.
  • The date and approximate time of the incident.
  • A clear description of what happened and why it creates a safety or policy concern.
  • Whether law enforcement or another authority has already been contacted.

Do not place yourself in danger to collect evidence. Do not obtain information through hacking, trespassing, deception, or another unlawful method.

9. Confidentiality and Reporter Safety

Unity Links will limit access to sensitive reports to people who reasonably need the information for review, safety, operations, or legal compliance. However, absolute confidentiality or anonymity cannot be guaranteed.

Information may need to be disclosed to the person involved, service providers, legal counsel, law enforcement, courts, regulators, or child-protection authorities when permitted or required by law or reasonably necessary to address a safety risk.

Do not include information in a report that is unrelated or that you are not authorized to disclose.

10. Unity Links Response

Depending on the circumstances, Unity Links may:

  • Review or preserve relevant content and account records.
  • Request additional information from the reporter.
  • Remove, hide, label, correct, or restrict content.
  • Warn, restrict, suspend, or terminate a user account.
  • Refer information to law enforcement, child-protection authorities, hosting providers, or other appropriate parties.
  • Take no action when a report cannot be substantiated or falls outside Unity Links’ authority.

For privacy and safety reasons, Unity Links may be unable to provide details about an investigation or moderation action.

11. False, Malicious, or Abusive Reports

Do not knowingly submit false information, alter evidence, impersonate another person, repeatedly file baseless complaints, or use the reporting process to threaten, retaliate, or harass.

Abuse of the reporting system may result in content removal, account restrictions, permanent termination, preservation of records, and referral to appropriate authorities.

12. Correcting or Removing Case Information

Authorized family members, representatives, or investigating agencies may request a correction, status update, or removal by emailing contact@unitylinks.org.

Include the case name, page link, requested change, your relationship or authority, and supporting official information. Unity Links may verify the request before making a change.
